A fully installed on-grid system runs about ₹55,000–75,000 per kW before subsidy (indicative 2026 — verify current). So a typical 3 kW home system is roughly ₹1.6–2.1 lakh, dropping to about ₹1.0–1.6 lakh after the ₹78,000 PM Surya Ghar subsidy. The subsidy is ₹30,000/kW for the first 2 kW plus ₹18,000 for the 3rd kW, capped at ₹78,000 — which is why 3 kW is the sweet spot for most homes. One 2026 update worth knowing: new PM Surya Ghar registrations closed on 6 June 2026. If you registered before then, your application is still valid — focus on installation and your net-metering approval. If you missed the window, it’s still worth lining up a vetted installer and a fair price so you’re ready for the next intake.

How to choose between quotes

Once you have three quotes, compare them like-for-like. Check the per-watt price rather than just the total, confirm the panels are ALMM-listed and DCR if you want the subsidy, and get the warranty terms for panels (~25-year performance), inverter (5–10 years) and workmanship in writing. Ask who files your net-metering application with the DISCOM — approval typically takes 15–45 days.
